This is information, not advice
This is information, not legal advice. Everything on this site describes what published sources say. It does not tell you what to do about your own circumstances, and it is not a substitute for advice from someone you have engaged to look at them.
Using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Results are an indication, not a determination
The eligibility check compares the answers you give against the rules we hold for each state. Whether you are licensed is decided by a state medical board applying its own rules to your complete application, and by nobody else. A result here is an indication of how the published rules read against what you told us. It is not a determination by any state medical board, and no result should be relied on as one.
A result can be wrong because a rule changed after we last read it, because your circumstances differ from what a question captured, or because a board reads a provision differently from how it is written. Read the sources linked beside every requirement.
What is covered
State medical licensure only. Nothing here addresses any other requirement for working as a physician in the United States, and nothing here should be read as covering one.
Accuracy and currency
Every requirement carries the provision it came from and the date somebody last read that provision. Where a rule has not been verified recently, the page says so and shows the date. Where we have not verified a rule at all, the page says that too. We do not fill those gaps with inferences.
Getting in touch
If you believe something here misstates a source, tell us and name the provision you read.
