The physicians you need have already trained.
Several states now license internationally trained physicians without a second residency. We tell you which ones, what each asks of you as the employing institution, and whether a candidate in front of you fits.
We work from a reference where every requirement carries the provision it came from and the date somebody read it. You can check any of it before you act on it.
What we do for a health system
- Which pathways your state has
- We work from the same cited reference a physician sees, and tell you what your state offers, what it asks, and where its rules have not been settled.
- Whether a candidate fits one
- Given a candidate’s training and practice history, which pathways in your state are open to them, which are closed, and which turn on a fact nobody has established yet.
- What the licence obliges you to do
- Where a pathway issues a limited licence first, or attaches supervision or sponsorship duties to the employing institution, we set out what those are before you make an offer, not after.
- Credentialing and privileging
- A physician licensed this way has no ACGME residency for a credentialing file to point at. We work through what your medical staff office needs instead.
Start from the same reference we do.
Every state we hold is public, with its requirements, its sources and the date each was last read. Nothing about the employer view is hidden from the physician view.
Credentialing a physician with no ACGME residency
This is the question a medical staff office asks first, and the one a licensure answer does not settle on its own.
What we work throughWhere work authorisation meets the licence.
Physicians arrive with a category already attached — a J-1 waiver, an H-1B, an EB-2 NIW, a Conrad 30 post. Which one it is changes the licensure timetable, and we account for that when we map a candidate’s options.
We do not advise on immigration matters. Where a work-authorisation category is named here, it is named as a fact about a physician’s circumstances and not as guidance on obtaining or changing one.
Talk to us about a post you are trying to fill.
Where the obstacle is the rule rather than the candidate, we make that case to boards and legislatures as well.
This page describes what we do. It states no rule of any state medical board, and nothing on it is a source to rely on. This is information, not legal advice. Using this site does not create an attorney-client relationship.
